
The government has urged traditional leaders to support the proposed constitutional amendment under Bill 7, which seeks to facilitate the delimitation of constituencies.
Speaking during a Council of Chiefs consultative meeting in Lusaka, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Permanent Secretary for Technical Services in the Nicholas Phiri, has described the amendment as a crucial step toward addressing long-standing developmental inequalities and improving service delivery nationwide.
Mr. Phiri has told traditional leaders to help educate their communities on the importance of the proposed changes, which aim to create more equitable and manageable constituencies, thereby bringing governance closer to the people.
Meanwhile, the government has extended the Cash-for-Work programme to 2026.
