
The Copper Queens have made a perfect start to their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign, beating Egypt 6-0 in their Group C opener.
Captain Barbra Banda starred with four goals to earn the Player of the Match award, while Rachel Nachula converted a penalty and debutant Eneless Phiri added the sixth, as Zambia outclassed the North Africans.
Phiri marked her senior WAFCON debut with a goal, while defender Margaret Gondwe also made her first appearance at the continental tournament.
Zambia will take on Nigeria in their next encounter on Saturday, August 1.
