Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has addressed the controversy surrounding the K450,000 awarded to Transport Minister Frank Tayali, asserting that the decision was in accordance with the law.
Mr. Mweetwa further explains that if the State had pursued a trial, the court could have potentially awarded Mr. Tayali a significantly larger sum, possibly double or triple the amount.
He highlighted the fact that on the same day Mr. Tayali was threatened with a gun to his head, two individuals were shot by police officers, underscoring the gravity of the circumstances.
Mr. Mweetwa has urged the public and media to approach the matter with respect for the court’s decision and cautioned against sensationalism.
He has also emphasized government’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all citizens.
