UPND ADOPTS ADRIAN BANDA FOR MANDEVU BY-ELECTION

.

The United Party for National Development – UPND – has adopted Adrian Banda as its candidate for the Mandevu Parliamentary by-election scheduled for 5th November 2026.

Mr Banda, who contested the August 13 General Election as an independent candidate, later rejoined the UPND after the Electoral Commission of Zambia – ECZ – called for a fresh election following a security incident at the Mandevu results-totalling centre, where election materials were destroyed and documentation was taken, leaving the Returning Officer unable to declare the result.

Mr Banda has thanked UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and the party’s National Management Committee for adopting him as its candidate.

He says the focus now shifts to the campaign, adding that work starts immediately as the party seeks to win the seat.
