MAKOYE BOARDING SCHOOL APPEALS FOR URGENT HELP AS PUPILS SLEEP ON CARTONS

.

Makoye Boarding School Management has appealed for immediate assistance with mattresses after pupils in both the girls’ and boys’ dormitories were found without adequate mattresses, forcing some to use cardboards as mattresses.

The school head teacher, Flight Chibinga, says there is an urgent need for assistance, as many pupils are currently stranded due to the shortage of mattresses.

The administration has also raised concern over an open sewage dump, which it says poses a serious threat to the health and lives of pupils, calling for immediate intervention.

And Mazabuka Mayor elect Kelvin Muleya, who responded to the urgent call by the school management, expressed concern after discovering that the school is also facing a serious shortage of functional toilets.

Mr. Muleya has since assured the school management that he will engage relevant authorities and push for government intervention to address the challenges facing the institution.

Meanwhile, the Mazabuka District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Cristeta Mwale has not yet responded to concerns raised at the school.
