The Tonse Alliance has elected Mporokoso Member of Parliament Brian Mundubile its new President, with a strong call for national unity, inclusive prosperity and urgent political renewal taking centre stage at the Alliance’s General Conference.
In his acceptance remarks shortly after his election, Mr Mundubile says Tonse Alliance is committed to rebuilding Zambia for the benefit of all citizens and not a few chosen ones, stressing that the country could no longer afford politics of division, selfishness and endless rhetoric.
He invited Zambians from all walks of life to join the Alliance, saying there was plenty of room in the Tonse tent for those willing to engage in constructive national debate and collective action.
He has emphasised that time is not on the nation’s side, noting that Zambia faced a mountain of work that required unity of purpose and decisive leadership to return the country to its true mission.
Adding to the momentum, Christian Democratic Party (CDP) leader Danny Pule welcomed the outcome of the General Conference, declaring that the people have spoken and Tonse has spoken, describing the election as a clear signal of the Alliance’s growing political influence and public support.
Meanwhile, earlier developments surrounding the Alliance leadership race saw Patriotic Front (PF) Acting Secretary General Celestine Mukandila announce that Mr Brian Mundubile was no longer eligible to contest for the PF presidency after joining the Tonse Alliance, effectively removing him from the list of candidates.
