The Lusaka Magistrate Court has fined a Lusaka-based Chinese businessman, Simon Huang, K1,200 after finding him guilty of selling shoes bearing a forged trademark.
Huang was found trading in 95 pairs of shoes with a fake Puma SE trademark, contrary to Section 6(1)(9) of the Merchandise Marks Act of the Laws of Zambia.
It was alleged that between July 1, 2025, and August 7, 2025, Huang offered for sale 95 pairs of men’s shoes bearing a trademark resembling the registered Puma mark, with intent to deceive.
Puma SE proprietor Paulus Ramara reported that some shops in Lusaka were selling counterfeit shoes using the company’s trademark.
Chief Resident Magistrate Idah Phiri convicted Huang based on his admission of the offence and ordered that the shoes be forfeited.
