Zanaco Head Coach Numba Mumamba has expressed concern over the officiating in his side’s 2-0 defeat to Napsa Stars, describing the refereeing as poor.
Zanaco suffered the loss in a Week 32 MTN Super League fixture played at Reiz Arena in Lusaka on Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking after the match, Mumamba questioned the first-half penalty awarded to Napsa Stars, saying it was undeserved and shifted the momentum of the game heading into the break.
Zanaco’s troubles worsened after Wilson Chasala and Frederick Mwimanzi were sent off in the 43rd and 58th minutes respectively, reducing the team to nine men on the pitch.
By then, Napsa Stars had already established a 2-0 lead through goals from Dickson Chapa and Austin Banda, sealing an important victory in their fight for survival.
Mumamba has since called on match officials to uphold integrity, stating that teams deserve to compete in a fair environment and warning that accepting poor standards would continue to damage the game.
Meanwhile, Napsa Stars Head Coach Tennant Chilumba said he was not entirely satisfied with the performance despite the win, noting that his side played under pressure.
The victory sees Napsa Stars climb two places to 14th on the table as the battle for survival intensifies.
