Traders at Kasumbalesa border are breathing a sigh of relief after the border reopened today Wednesday, following a temporary closure that left many stranded.

The closure, which was due to bilateral issues between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as Congo placed a ban on the export of drinks, alcohol and lime, had a devastating impact on traders who rely on the border to transport their goods.

However, after constructive discussions between the two governments, the border has reopened, with traders resuming their operations.

Minister of Commerce, Trade, and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga, confirmed the reopening of the border.
