Former Republican President Edgar Lungu has accused the Inspector General of Police Grapheal Musamba of planning to arrest him.

The former President in statement posted on his facebook page says the police have received instructions to arrest him in the dark of the night any day by surprise.

He has alleged that since transitioning to being a former Head of State, he has been subjected to numerous unconstitutional actions by the state, from being barred from his morning workouts to being denied the right to travel adding that he is now being prevented from moving and making courtesy calls to anyone.

Mr. Lungu has challenged the police to call him for interviews and he will make himself available.

Although the police are yet to respond to the claims by the former President, some sources close to the case have told Diamond News that the police are planning to summon Mr. Lungu over his call for an early election.

On Monday, some ruling United Party For National Development UPND youths reported Mr. Lungu to the police over his utterances.
