Pope Leo has reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out against war and promoting peace and dialogue, while distancing himself from political debates linked to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Speaking to journalists during a flight to Algeria, Pope Leo said he does not consider himself a politician, emphasising that his role is grounded in moral and spiritual leadership.
“I am not a politician,” he said, adding that he will “continue to speak strongly against war, seeking to promote peace and dialogue.”
The remarks come amid heightened global tensions, with the Pope reiterating the importance of dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Despite being drawn into commentary surrounding political statements, he maintained that his focus remains on encouraging understanding and cooperation among nations and peoples, particularly in conflict-affected regions.
According to Vatican News, the Pope’s comments reflect the broader position of the Vatican, which consistently advocates for diplomacy, reconciliation, and an end to violence worldwide.
