The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) has announced improved conditions of service for its employees following the approval of a new remuneration package by the Emoluments Commission.
The changes include a 10 percent increase in basic salaries, backdated to 1st January 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen the institution and improve staff welfare.
The Authority has also secured approval for employees to receive a retirement benefit equivalent to one year’s gross salary upon retirement, in addition to benefits provided under the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA).
In a first for the institution, the Emoluments Commission has further approved the establishment of an in-house pension scheme. Under the arrangement, employees will contribute 5 percent of their monthly basic salary, while the Authority will contribute 6.5 percent, aimed at improving employees’ long-term financial security.
Director of Public Prosecutions Gilbert Phiri says the enhanced package represents an important step towards strengthening institutional capacity, improving employee welfare, and supporting the efficient delivery of justice.
The National Prosecution Authority has since reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a professional, supportive, and high-performing workplace that attracts, develops, and retains talent of the highest calibre in service of the people of Zambia.
This is according to a statement issued by NPA Public Relations Manager Vivian Nsingo.
