Government has maintained that the level of political violence being witnessed ahead of the August 13 general election is significantly lower than in previous election periods, describing recent incidents as isolated cases that are being dealt with through the law.
Speaking on Diamond TV’s COSTA, Ministry of Information and Media, Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana said while incidents of political violence have occurred in some parts of the country, they cannot be compared to the levels experienced during previous elections.
Mr. Kawana said the current administration has adopted a zero tolerance approach to political violence, adding that individuals involved in attacks, including those targeting journalists like Alphonso and political figures like Gary Nkombo have been arrested and are facing the law regardless of their political affiliation.
