Sixteen of the 17 suspects arrested in Western Province, including musicians Moses Ng’andwe, alias Chester, Felix Mangani Phiri, alias Felix Ndangeni Inshila, and comedian Winston Ngosa, alias IDC Light Comedy, are expected to appear in court today.
Lawyer representing the accused, Wisdom Nyirenda, says only 16 suspects will appear before the court, while one suspect, identified as David, will not be part of the proceedings.
Mr. Nyirenda says David was separately charged with conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, while the other suspects are facing various charges, including riotous behaviour and possession of offensive weapons.
The suspects have been in custody since August 5, after they were arrested in Western Province during campaign activities for the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP).
