President Hakainde Hichilema says the recent mob killing in Kisasa area of Kalumbila District is inhumane and unacceptable, describing it as a tragic incident where a lie was unconsciously blown out of context, leading to the loss of an innocent life.
Speaking when he met the Luanshya Ministers Fellowship at the start of his two-day working visit to the Copperbelt Province, President Hichilema said the spread of unverified information and emotional reactions can easily escalate into violence if communities are not guided by values of truth, restraint, and accountability.
The Head of State emphasized that such acts not only destroy lives but also destabilize families and weaken the moral standing of society, noting that the family unit remains the foundation of both the church and the nation.
President Hichilema called on citizens to embrace unity, love, and tolerance, stressing that differences and misunderstandings must be resolved through lawful and peaceful means.
And Luanshya Ministers Fellowship Chairperson Runwell Phiri condemned the incident, stating that the taking of life based on allegations is a serious moral failure that requires urgent attention from both community and church leadership.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt Christians Ministers Consultative Forum Chairperson Bishop Rady Lewila said the church will continue to play its role in promoting peace and guiding communities against acts of violence.
And Life Gospel Ministries International Bishop Joseph Kazila urged residents to seek counsel and verify information before reacting, warning that mob actions often target innocent people.
President Hichilema reaffirmed government’s commitment to working with the church in strengthening community awareness and promoting values that safeguard human life.
