The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has issued a travel and security advisory for Zambian nationals residing in or visiting the Gulf region amid ongoing security incidents in parts of the Middle East.
In a statement released on March 1, 2026, the Ministry has urged affected nationals to remain vigilant, stay indoors, and avoid travel near military installations or key government infrastructure.
Zambians have also been advised to maintain regular contact with the nearest Zambian diplomatic mission for registration and assistance.
The advisory has further called on citizens to avoid non-essential travel to affected areas until the situation stabilises and official guidance indicates it is safe to do so. In the event of sirens or alerts, nationals are encouraged to immediately seek shelter in designated protected spaces and remain there until authorities declare it safe.
The Ministry has also warned of possible temporary airspace closures and has urged travellers to confirm flight operations with their airlines before heading to airports.
Citizens are advised to strictly follow real-time instructions from local authorities and ensure travel documents are secure and easily accessible.
The government says it is working closely with authorities in the region and Zambian diplomatic missions to monitor developments and will provide further updates, including possible evacuation procedures, should the security situation deteriorate.
