
The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has revised the pump prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and Jet A-1 downwards, effective midnight on February 28, 2026, citing the appreciation of the Zambian Kwacha against the United States Dollar.
ERB Board Chairperson James Banda announced in a statement that the pump price of petrol has been reduced from K27.88 per litre to K26.61 per litre, while diesel has been adjusted from K24.50 per litre to K23.25 per litre.
Mr. Banda has further stated that kerosene has been reduced from K22.24 per litre to K21.06 per litre, while Jet A-1 has been adjusted from K23.80 per litre to K22.39 per litre.
He has explained that the Kwacha’s appreciated by 4.17 percent against the United States Dollar in February 2026, strengthening from an average of K19.80 per US dollar at the beginning of the month to K18.98 per US dollar by month-end.
However, Mr. Banda noted that since the last price review on January 31, 2026, international oil prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene/Jet A-1 have increased.
He says petrol rose by 4.22 percent from US$67.47 per barrel to US$70.32 per barrel, diesel increased by 7.85 percent from US$76.89 per barrel to US$84.74 per barrel, and kerosene/Jet A-1 went up by 6.70 percent from US$78.68 per barrel to US$83.95 per barrel.
