LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTRY FORFEITS LIQUOR LICENCES OF SIGNATURE, CLUB 1818 OVER NOISE POLLUTION

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has forfeited the liquor licences of Signature and Club 1818 in Ndola due to persistent noise pollution.
The decision follows complaints from Indian nationals residing in the Kanini area, which triggered enforcement action by local authorities.
The move has raised concern among patrons and stakeholders, particularly as other entertainment establishments operating within residential areas, such as Pulse and Villa, remain operational.
The forfeiture has affected over 60 workers employed at the two establishments, whose employment status is now uncertain following the loss of the licences.
Stakeholders are urging authorities to reconsider the decision and explore practical solutions, including stricter sound control measures that could allow the businesses to operate without disturbing nearby residents.
