The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) has urged citizens and leaders to uphold peace, justice, unity, and integrity ahead of the August 2026 general elections, in a latest a pastoral letter dated January 30th 2026.
In the 8 pages document, the bishops say Zambia stands at a crucial crossroads, warning against division, tribalism, corruption, and election-related violence that could undermine national unity.
The letter signed by 12 Church leaders has highlighted recurring national challenges such as high cost of living, unemployment, indebtedness, and socio-economic inequality, which continue to affect many Zambians.
The bishops have described politics as a noble vocation and urge political leaders to serve the common good, resist corruption, and focus on issue-based campaigns.
The pastoral letter has also called on voters to educate themselves, vote with conscience, respect election results, and reject intimidation, while praying for peaceful and credible elections.
