LUSAMBO QUESTIONS DELAY IN APPEAL JUDGMENT

.

Jailed former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Court of the High Court when judgment will be delivered in his appeal against a four-year sentence for corruption, despite the court having earlier set a date for the ruling.

In a letter dated December 12, 2025, from his lawyers Likando Kalaluka and Co., Mr. Lusambo states that his appeal was heard on May 21, 2025, and adjourned to August 25, 2025, for the delivery of judgment, which was not ready at the time.

He notes that to date, the judgment has still not been delivered, despite matters before the Economic and Financial Crimes Court being required to be disposed of within five months.

Mr. Lusambo has expressed concern that he may substantially serve his sentence, a situation he says would render his appeal nugatory.

Mr. Lusambo was jailed in 2024 to four years’ imprisonment with hard labour after pleading not guilty to 10 counts of corrupt acquisition of public property, possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, tax evasion, and conspiracy to defraud.

He has since appealed the sentence.
