The Livingstone Magistrate Court has once again adjourned the delivery of judgment in a case in which Livingstone Mayor Constance Muleabai is facing two counts of corrupt practices.
The adjournment follows an application by the State, which informed the court that the magistrate scheduled to deliver the judgment was unable to travel from Lusaka to Livingstone.
The State submitted that Magistrate Trevor Kasanda could not make the journey and consequently applied for an adjournment to January.
While the defence reluctantly supported the application, it expressed concern over the State’s failure to communicate the situation in a timely manner, noting that the notice was given at short notice.
In adjourning the matter, Chief Resident Magistrate Kalifano Manyepa explained that the inconvenience was beyond the court’s control.
The case has been adjourned to January 19, 2026.
Meanwhile, sympathisers of the accused have expressed frustration over the second adjournment, describing it as a waste of time
