A newborn baby has miraculously survived after being dumped in a toilet in Lusaka’s Bauleni Compound by an unknown woman, who is currently on the run.
A resident in the area, identified as Silvia, has told Diamond News that on Monday October 20, 2025 , one of her tenants went to use the toilet in the morning and heard a baby crying before alerting her.
She says she rushed to check and was shocked to find a baby inside the toilet.
Another neighbor, Modest Mwanza has expressed deep sadness over the incident, describing it as heartbreaking.
When contacted for a comment, Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi confirmed the incident.
He says the baby, a boy, is in good condition and that the woman responsible has not yet been identified and remains at large.
