
A 69-year-old man, identified as Clement Chifumpu of Siadimbe Village in Chief Chipepo’s chiefdom of Gwembe District, has been shot dead by unknown assailants.
According to Southern Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka, the deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the left side of his chest and a broken left hand. The type of firearm used in the attack remains unknown.
The incident occurred around 20:00 hours on 19th October 2025. While sitting outsidehis house after watching a local football match in his village. His wife, Lucia Nzaamba, 43, reported hearing gunshots and rushed outside, only to find her husband dead in his seat, bleeding heavily from his injuries.
Police officers who visited and processed the crime scene reported that no gun pellets were recovered. The body was transported to Gwembe District Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, members of the valley community have voiced growing concerns over the increasing frequency of shooting incidents in the area. Residents note that barely a week or month passes without a similar case being reported, raising fears about security and safety in the region.
