POLICE IN LUSAKA ARREST THREE WOMEN FOR POSSESSION OF COUNTERFEIT NOTES

olice in Matero have arrested three women found in possession of counterfeit K500 notes totaling K97,500.

The case began on September 25, 2025, when Frenchesca Mwansa, 32, attempted to buy beer at a Matero liquor store using a counterfeit K500 note.

A search revealed an additional fake note, bringing her total to K1, 000.

She led officers to Margret Mukuka, 34, of Emmasdale, found with K2, 000 in counterfeit notes.

Further investigation led to Beatrice Mulukutila, 46, of Matero North, whose premises held K94, 500 in fake currency.

The suspects are in police custody, and the seized notes have been secured for examination by the Bank of Zambia. Investigations into the case are ongoing.

Police have further warned the public to be vigilant with cash transactions and to report any suspicious notes to the nearest station.
