CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines PLC is soon expected to re-open shaft 28 after being closed for 22 years.

The mining firm is currently conducting feasibility studies on the prospect of draining the water from the mine.

Company CEO Wang Jingjun says the company will soon start dewatering the flooded mine, a move aimed at supporting the 8th National Development Plan and Vision 2030 which seek to unlock the country’s immense prospects in all sectors of the economy.

Mr. Jingjun says the anticipated investment of reopening shaft 28 will be about $500 million and is expected to create 3, 000 direct and indirect jobs.

Once reopened, 40, 000 tons of Copper will be added to the current 50, 000 tons produced annually.
