n order to enhance Productivity the Zambian government has embarked on installation of 73 Local authority and 10 District offices to the Local area network.
Electronic Government Division Smart Zambia Assistant Director Standards and Compliance Victor Musangu says the connectivity will help government institutions to begin to benefit from a central communication system which will in turn by reduce cost.
Mr Musangu says government institution that are not on the wide area connection are compelled to have internet connectivity in their opetation but that with the coming of local area network it will enable institutions to have centraly procured internet services.
He added that the system will also enable local authority run smooth digital payment systems.
In Muchinga province 4 Local authority and 3 district council are targeted in the first phase.
And Mpika town Council Chairperson Samuel Musenga noted that being a beneficiary, the challenge they have been facing is that of information dissemination both in receiving and transmitting.
