The Solwezi High Court has directed both the State and the Defence to file preliminary submissions on whether the sedition case involving 2026 Presidential candidate for the National Reconciliation Party (NRPUP), Brian Mundubile, and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, should be heard in Solwezi or Lusaka.
This follows the duo’s first appearance before Honourable Justice Musona at the Solwezi High Court, where they are facing two counts of seditious practices.
Justice Musona has directed the State to file its preliminary submissions by 12:00 hours today, 3rd November 2026, while the Defence is expected to file its submissions by 14:00 hours tomorrow, 4th November 2026.
The court has since adjourned the matter to 5th November 2026, when it is expected to determine whether the case should proceed before the Solwezi High Court or be transferred to the Lusaka High Court.
The development follows an earlier ruling by the Solwezi Magistrates’ Court on 13th October 2026, in which it declared that it lacked jurisdiction to preside over the matter, leading to its transfer to the High Court.
