Lusaka Archbishop Dr Alick Banda is today expected to stand trial before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court over allegations of possessing a motor vehicle reasonably suspected to have been unlawfully obtained from the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
Dr Banda is charged under Section 319 of the Penal Code in connection with a blue Toyota Hilux, registration number ALF 7734, which the State alleges was in his possession between April 22, 2021, and December 27, 2023.
The vehicle is reportedly among about 22 motor vehicles allegedly irregularly disposed of by ZRA.
Dr Banda, who is on bail, is expected to appear before Senior Resident Magistrate Mwandu Nakazwe as the matter enters trial.
