LUNDAZI MAN POURS HOT COOKING OIL ON WIFE’S FACE

Police in Lundazi District have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly pouring hot cooking oil on his wife’s face following a marital dispute in a case of gender-based violence (GBV).

Robby Supuni, a driver at Lundazi World Vision, was formally charged with assault (GBV) and is expected to appear in court soon.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba has confirmed to Diamond News that the arrest came swiftly after the survivor aged 34, reported the incident to Lundazi Police Station on April 14, 2026, at around 11:30 hours.

The attack occurred late on April 13, 2026, at around 23:00 hours at the couple’s home in Chikaya Township.

Brief facts of the matter indicate that earlier that day, the wife a banker, left for work at 08:00 hours while Supuni also went to his job.

Their four children were left in the care of a maid, who finishes work at 18:00 hours when both parents are normally back home.

However, after knocking off, the wife visited a friend instead of returning home directly.

The maid eventually left and Mr. Supuni began cooking for the children.

When the wife arrived back at around 22:00 hours, the husband confronted her about her whereabouts.

An argument ensued, escalating into a physical dispute that ended with the husband pouring hot cooking oil on his wife’s face.

The survivor sustained a bruised and swollen face, as well as swelling to her left ear, left eye and left side of her neck.

The suspect remains in police custody.
