CSO ALLIANCE ON LEGAL REFORMS URGES VOTERS TO DEMAND PRACTICAL MANIFESTOS

.

The Civil Society Alliance on Legal Reforms (CSALR) has challenged political parties contesting the 13 August 2026 General Election to abandon empty campaign rhetoric and present practical, measurable manifestos that address citizens’ real needs.

Speaking at the launch of the alliance’s election activities in Lusaka on Friday, Alliance Chairperson Dr Caroline Katotobwe said voters should reject vague promises and demand clear plans on education, healthcare, agriculture, job creation, energy, and local development.

Dr Katotobwe urged citizens to assess campaign pledges against tangible programmes implemented over the past five years, including free education, the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Cash for Work, and investments in agriculture, mining, and the energy sector.

Meanwhile, the alliance urged Zambians to reject voter apathy and actively participate in the 13 August 2026 General Election, describing the vote as every citizen’s most powerful tool for shaping the country’s future.

Dr Katotobwe warned that staying away from the polls allows others to make decisions that affect people’s daily lives, children’s education, and national development.

She further said the alliance has backed the Electoral Commission of Zambia’s “Count Me In” campaign, encouraging eligible citizens to vote.
