President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to use his second term to accelerate economic growth, create jobs and expand opportunities for Zambians, while calling for unity following the 2026 General Elections.
Speaking during his inauguration in Lusaka, President Hichilema says the focus of the next five years will shift from economic stabilisation to growth, expansion, opportunity and prosperity for all.
He has acknowledged that the benefits of economic reforms have not yet been felt by every household, particularly amid continued concerns over the cost of living, but says government is listening and will work to ensure economic growth translates into jobs, markets and improved livelihoods.
President Hichilema has also urged Zambians to reject political divisions, stressing that those who voted differently are not enemies but fellow citizens who deserve equal respect.
He further outlined ambitious targets for agriculture, energy, mining, tourism and exports, while pledging increased investment in education, health, skills development, youth and women empowerment, decentralisation and the fight against corruption.
