Republican President Hakainde Hichilema says he is aware that Zambia’s cost of living is high.

Speaking during the official opening of the 3rd session of the 13th national assembly, the President said the road to development may be bumpy, but his government is on course.

And President Hichilema says his government will not exercise sympathy on the corrupt.

Among key pronouncements he made include improving the remuneration package for councillors and recruitment of 3000 health workers and 4500 Teachers.

Some opposition members have welcomed the President’s speech while others like leader of the opposition, Brian Mundubile, says more needs to be done on the observance of the rule of law.
