President Hakainde Hichilema wants sustainable management of the forest as part of the solutions to address climate change.
Speaking shortly upon arrival from Egypt where he was attending the Conference of Parties-COP27 climate change summit, the President says that forests are important and should be sustained as they not only provide food but are also a source of employment.
His comment follows a memorandum of understanding he signed with the European Union (EU) on forestry partnerships.
In the MOU, the European Union made a commitment to invest 450 million Euros by the year 2024 to facilitate trade in wood products.
