ACC ARRESTS TWO FARMERS OVER K4,500 BRIBE

.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and charged two farmers for allegedly bribing a public officer with K4,500 to secure the release of a family member from lawful custody.

The suspects are Malilo Banda, also known as Adam Banda, aged 30, of Chimtyulu area in Lundazi, and Raphael Muyayi, aged 24, of Chihanya Village in Lumezi District.

The ACC says the two face two counts of Corrupt Practices with Public Officer, contrary to Section 19 (2), as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act, Chapter 91 of the Laws of Zambia.

The Commission says that between October 18 and 25, 2026, the two offered K5,000 and allegedly paid K4,500 to an investigations officer from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife.

The money was intended to persuade the officer to facilitate the release of Pasukani Muyayi, a family member of Mr Banda, from lawful custody.

.

Pasukani Muyayi was arrested in Njoka area under Nyaminga Game Management Area in Lumezi District for being in possession of a homemade hunting shotgun.

The two suspects have since been released on bond and are expected to appear in court soon.

The Commission says such conduct is illegal and undermines the rule of law and the integrity of public institutions.
