Newly reappointed Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Gift Sialubalo has declared that he is returning to the ministry with a different approach, promising a hands-on leadership style anchored on performance, accountability and quality service delivery.
Mr Sialubalo says his return to the ministry, where he previously served for a year and two weeks, comes with a renewed commitment to ensure that local authorities actively contribute to the government’s ambitious growth agenda.
Speaking on his first day back in office, Mr Sialubalo challenged permanent secretaries and other officials to abandon the culture of business as usual and embrace a results-oriented approach, warning that poor workmanship, misuse of public resources and substandard Constituency Development Fund projects will not be tolerated.
