UPND’S ADRIAN BANDA TO BE DECLARED MANDEVU MP AFTER THREE CANDIDATES WITHDRAW-ECZ

.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate Adrian Banda will be declared Member of Parliament for Mandevu Constituency without an election following the withdrawal of three rival candidates.

The three candidates are Ntazana Musukuma Mutungwa of the Leadership Movement, Daniel Chisenga of the Forum for Democracy and Development, and independent candidate Daniel Daka.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro says the candidates resigned through letters dated 28th October, which were received by the Commission on 29th October, 2026, with immediate effect.

The Commission says, in accordance with the Electoral Process (General) Regulations of 2016, Mr Banda, being the only validly nominated candidate, will be declared duly elected on 5th November, 2026, the date initially scheduled for the by-election.
