RDA SIGNS K1.7 BILLION MUTANDA–MWINILUNGA ROAD REHABILITATION CONTRACT

.

The Road Development Agency (RDA) has signed a K1.7 billion contract for the rehabilitation of the 214-kilometre Mutanda to Mwinilunga Road (T5), marking a major infrastructure milestone in North-Western Province.

The signing ceremony officially launches Lot 2 of the project, which includes 75 kilometres of the T5 and 10 kilometres of township roads in Mwinilunga District.

Speaking during the event, RDA Board Chairperson Engineer. Eugene Haazele has said the project is expected to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and unlock economic opportunities for communities along the corridor.

He says the upgraded road will enhance access to markets for farmers and businesses, while also strengthening regional trade and supporting long-term economic growth in the province.

Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure Richard Banda, under the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, says government remains committed to upgrading the road to international standards after years of challenges along the route.

.

And Egyptian Ambassador to Zambia, H.E. Mayada Essan, says the project marks a new chapter in Zambia–Egypt cooperation, describing it as a bridge between Egyptian expertise and Zambian development aspirations through the first Arab Contractors project in the country.

The project will be undertaken by Arab Contractor O.A.O Ltd in joint venture with Palmetto Trading Ltd, with stakeholders expressing confidence that it will be delivered within set timelines, budget, and required quality standards.
