Police in Katete have arrested a 28-year-old man of Ibex Township in Katete District for allegedly killing his 12-year-old niece using a hoe.
Details of the matter are that on Saturday, 8th October 2022, Tryford Sakala and his niece were in the house when other relatives heard someone screaming.
Upon rushing into the house, the young girl was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood, in the sitting room, while the suspect was standing while holding a hoe in his hands.
The cause of the killing has not been established yet.
The deceased was quickly taken to St. Francis Mission Hospital where she pronounced dead as a result of the multiple cuts in the head.
This is according to Eastern Province Acting Police Commanding Officer Davis Simwanza.
