SENIOR CHIEF MWEEMBA CHIEFDOM CELEBRATES NEW CHIEF

.

Senior Chief Mweemba of Mweemba Chiefdom in Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, Ackson Simicheelo, is being officially celebrated today as the new traditional leader.

He succeeds his late uncle, Edson Shamu, the former Senior Chief Mweemba, who passed away on July 30, 2021.

Residents of Mweemba Chiefdom are marking the occasion with jubilant celebrations, bringing to an end several years without a substantive traditional leader.

Senior Chief Mweemba’s Protocol Officer, Moses Kazevu, expressed happiness at the development. He noted that prior to the installation of the new chief, development efforts, despite support from Constituency Development Fund (CDF) programmes, faced challenges due to limited supervision.

Kazevu emphasized the critical role traditional leaders play in governance, adding that the installation marks a significant milestone for the chiefdom’s progress and stability.

The ceremony has attracted traditional leaders from across the country, including chiefs from Luapula and North-Western provinces.
