The Judicial Complaints Commission has begun hearing the matter in which suspended Director of Public Prosecution, Lilian Siyunyi, is accused of gross misconduct.
The JCC commenced hearing with regards to a complaint filed by Movement for Multi-Party Democracy National Secretary, Elizabeth Chitika.
Former MMD faction leader, Felix Mutati and former MMD national secretary, Raphael Nakachinda testified in the matter.
Ms. Chitika submits that after the 2011 General Elections, the Patriotic Front Administration impounded all the MMD vehicles and it took almost four years for Ms. Siyunyi to authorize the police to release the vehicles to the party.
She says the party managed to retrieve some of the motor vehicles from some police stations where they were parked but before the retrieval exercise concluded, a group of expelled and suspended members of MMD headed by Felix Mutati and Raphael Nakacinda organized an illegal convention in May 2016.
Ms. Chitika says the MMD opened a docket at the Lusaka Anti-theft Division so that people keeping the vehicles and those that had sold some were brought to book but Ms. Siyunyi wrote to police informing them that the vehicles were released to the lawful owners.
Ms. Chitaka added that when she wrote to the DPP to find out why she had closed the case, she was given an unsatisfactory answer.
