Football Association of Zambia President Keith Mweemba has given the Zambian Premier League and TopStar 72 hours to resolve a broadcast dispute that has kept Super League football off television screens since November 2025.
Mweemba warned that legal action would follow if contractual obligations are not honoured, while hinting that FAZ could open talks with SuperSport and Azam as alternative broadcast partners.
Sources indicate that TopStar’s absence from Super League coverage stems from unpaid production costs, leaving the $1 million-per-season, five-year deal the broadcaster signed with the ZPL in tatters.
The FAZ president insisted that contractual obligations must be respected, signalling the federation’s intent to take a firm stance on the matter.
The broadcast blackout has raised concerns over the league’s visibility and commercial viability, with fans unable to watch matches for over three months.
