Kansanshi Mine has unveiled a team of four cyclists from Kansanshi Cycling Team set to represent Zambia at the prestigious ABSA Cape Epic 2026, scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 15 March to 23 March.
The cyclists were officially unveiled during a press briefing held in Solwezi, where mine management expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete at one of the world’s toughest and most respected mountain bike stage races.
Speaking at the unveiling, Kansanshi Mine Corporate Affairs Superintendent Ryan Ellis says the sponsorship of the cycling team demonstrates the company’s commitment to promoting sports development, healthy lifestyles, and talent among employees and the wider community.
The ABSA Cape Epic is an eight-day mountain bike race that attracts elite and amateur cyclists from across the globe, testing endurance, teamwork, and resilience across challenging terrain in South Africa’s Western Cape Province.
Ellis says cyclists have been undergoing intensive training in preparation for the race and are expected to compete with determination while flying the Kansanshi Mine and Zambian flag high on the international stage.
And Kansanshi Mine Assistant General manager Axel Kottgen had reaffirmed its support towards sports as a tool for unity, discipline, and community development.
The ABSA Cape Epic 2026 will run from 15 March to 23 March, drawing thousands of participants and spectators from around the world.
