The Electoral Commission of Zambia says it does not expect to grant any further extension to the ongoing mass voter registration exercise beyond the current deadline of 26th November, 2025.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro made the announcement during a media briefing in Lusaka, where he provided a national update on the registration progress.
Mr. Kasaro revealed that as of 18th November, 2025, the Commission has partnered with Shoprite, opening 36 registration points in selected stores countrywide. In districts without Shoprite outlets, community trading centres with high public traffic are being utilised to ease access for citizens.
He reported that a total of 2,210,056 registrations and updates have been recorded across phases one to six. This includes 1,028,503 new registrations comprising 478,295 males and 550,208 females and 1,181,553 updates.
Mr. Kasaro added that voter registration in correctional facilities is still underway, with consolidated inmate statistics to be released once the process is complete.
