GOVT PROCURES 10 TRACTORS WORTH K14.8 MILLION

.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has procured 10 new tractors worth K14.8 million to boost solid waste management across Lusaka’s seven constituencies.

Speaking when he inspected the tractors Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Nicholas Phiri, said the beneficiary constituencies must maintain the equipment, while residents should ensure they dispose of garbage only at designated points to ease collection.

The tractors will be managed by the Lusaka Integrated Solid Waste Management Company, with allocations based on population density and waste generation.

Mr. Phiri added that the Ministry’s next priority is procuring skip bins for comprehensive waste disposal points in all compounds and appealed to stakeholders to donate cleaning materials and other essential resources.

The tractors will soon be handed over to constituencies by Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Gift Sialubalo, marking a key step in improving Lusaka’s waste management infrastructure.
