The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved Zambia’s request for a three-month extension of its Extended Credit Facility (ECF) arrangement, now extended until January 30, 2026. The extension will allow sufficient time to complete the Sixth Review of the arrangement and prepare for future program engagement.
Zambia’s 38-month ECF arrangement initially approved on August 31, 2022, provided access to about US$1.3 billion. The program was later augmented by 30 percent of quota, approximately US$385.7 million in June 2024 to support ongoing economic reforms.
The extension signals continued collaboration between Zambia and the IMF as the country implements reforms to restore macroeconomic stability, strengthen public financial management and promote sustainable, inclusive growth.
