The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has unearthed a tax evasion scam on the Copperbelt which could have cost the national treasury over K82 million.
According to ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala, searches at Mash Rock Mining Limited and Reddy Logistics revealed alleged misclassification of Copper with the view to avoid paying mineral royalties.
Mr. Nzala says Mash Rock Mining Limited was allegedly purporting to be importing locally produced copper from Congo DR to avoid paying mineral royalty taxes.
Mr. Nzala has warned Zambians not to violate tax rules and regulations as doing so undermines the government’s efforts to achieve inclusive socioeconomic development.
