A mother of five from Mtendere Compound in Lusaka is appealing for a wheelchair and financial assistance for her eight-year-old son, Philip Lungu, who has autism and requires constant care and support.
The child’s mother, Mary Moyo, told Diamond News that she is unable to work because she has to look after Philip full-time.
She says the lack of a wheelchair makes it difficult to manage his movements, and she constantly worries about his safety, as he can accidentally hurt himself or damage household property.
Meanwhile, a neighbour, Mary Phiri, says the family is going through a difficult time and is in urgent need of assistance.
She has appealed to well-wishers and organisations to help provide a wheelchair and other support to improve the child’s quality of life.
