Police in Lusaka has successfully traced and located three children in a suspected human trafficking case.
The children, twins girls aged 12 and a 14-Year-old were found yesterday, July 15, 2026, after Woodlands Police Station received a missing person’s report from a relative on July 14.
Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi says preliminary investigations indicate that the children were last seen boarding a public bus in Luanshya on the morning of July 14 before information about their disappearance was circulated on social media.
Mr. Chilabi says initial findings suggest the case may involve an attempted child trafficking offence.
He says investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the movement of the children and to identify anyone who may have been involved.
He says the Zambia Police Service has engaged the Department of Social Welfare to provide the necessary child protection services to the children.
Mr. Chilabi has also appealed to members of the public to respect the privacy of the children and their families by refraining from sharing information or images related to the case.
He adds that no arrests have been made so far, as investigations remain ongoing.
