The Government of the Republic of Zambia has announced the death of former Vice President Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott. Dr. Scott, who was 82, passed away today, Wednesday, 15th July 2026, at his Trotover Farm in Leopards Hill, Lusaka, after an illness.
President Hakainde Hichilema has since accorded the former Vice President a State Funeral in recognition of his distinguished service and contribution to the nation.
Dr.Scott served as Zambia’s Vice President from 2011 to 2014 under the late President Michael Sata and later became Acting President following President Sata’s death in October 2014, making history as the first person to serve in that role during the transition period.
Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa says further details on the State Funeral programme are expected to be announced by Government.
