OVER 100 HOUSEHOLDS AFFECTED BY SEWER OVERFLOW IN LIVINGSTONE’S LINDA COMPOUND

.

More than 100 households in Livinnstones Linda Compound Compound are grappling with a persistent sewer overflow that residents say has created a serious public health and sanitation crisis.

The situation is particularly severe in Section E of the community, where affected residents have expressed frustration over what they describe as prolonged inaction by the Southern Water and Sanitation Company despite repeated appeals for intervention.

A visit by Diamond News to the affected area has revealed stagnant sewage flowing through residential surroundings, creating unsanitary conditions and posing health risks to residents.

Some tenants have reportedly been forced to vacate their homes and seek alternative accommodation due to concerns over their health and safety.

Residents say the sewer discharge problem has persisted for nearly three months without a lasting solution, raising fears of potential disease outbreaks if urgent remedial measures are not taken.

When contacted for comment, Southern Water and Sanitation Company Public Relations Officer, Lungowe Mutumwenu, said she was attending to another engagement and would provide a response later.
